The numbers in the roulette wheel

The numbers in the roulette wheel are laid out so that the odd numbers have the next higher number opposite them on the wheel. This means that opposite number 1 there is number 2, opposite number 35 there is number 36 and so on. Since all odd numbers are red and all even numbers are black, this also gives a good even distribution of all the colors. However, 0 and 00 are green but are also opposite each other. The roulette table is designed so that all numbers, except 0 (and 00 in American roulette), are laid out in three columns that give twelve rows. The first row consists of 1.2 3; the other with 4, 5, 6 and so on down to the last row which is 34, 35, 36. 0 (and 00) are placed above the top row. The rest of the table contains a variety of badges that symbolize the different bets you can make.

As a player, you decide for yourself how many chances of winning you want your bet to cover and the more chances of winning, the lower the odds if you win. You win if you have played on the right combination. If the ball lands on the zero, all players lose their bets, except those who played on a combination where the zero is included. If you bet any of the even chances (eg red or black) when the zero falls, you get back half of the bet. Those who bet on any of the simple chances, that is, high or low, odd or even, or black or red, lose half their bet if the ball stays at zero.

Different casinos handle the situation when the zero or double zero comes up in different ways. For example, some casinos give back half of your bet. Be sure to check the rules of the casino you are at before you play. If you want to play roulette online, European roulette wheels are preferable – these roulette wheels only have a green zero – unlike the American roulette wheels which have a zero and a double zero. The odds on European roulette – also known as “single zero roulette” are therefore better than the odds on American roulette.
